An arm lift (brachioplasty) gives the upper arms a more toned and firm appearance through the removal of sagging skin and excess fat. Aging, weight loss and heredity can all cause skin of the upper arms to lose elasticity, creating the appearance of hanging skin. Though exercise can help to tone the muscles, it cannot reverse lost skin elasticity or reduce excess skin. The only way to remove excess skin is surgically with a brachioplasty. The procedure requires an incision from the underarm to the mid-upperarm or from the underarm to the elbow, depending on the degree of skin looseness. Dr. Newall offers his patients a number of products and treatments to reduce the appearance of scars.
With new innovations in plastic surgery, Dr. Newall is able to achieve excellent contouring of the arms with liposuction alone. Through small incisions that are made in the armpit and elbow, Dr. Newall will liposuction select areas of the arms to create the sculpted shape you desire. This is a great option for patients with young, elastic skin that will retract once the fat is removed. Some patients may need excess skin removed, requiring an insicion from the armpit to the elbow (brachioplasty). As with any procedure individual results may vary.
