Fat grafting uses an individual’s own fat  to fill in facial creases and folds and to add  fullness to areas such as the cheeks , lips, and backside of hands.  It can also be used to add volume and shapely contours to buttocks and calves, and to improve the appearance of bony hands.  Dr. Newall uses liposuction to remove fat from areas such as the abdomen or thighs and reinjects  it into the desired areas.  Fat grafting can last  anywhere from several months to several years, depending on the patient and the location of the grafting.  Though small-scale fat grafting can sometime be conducted  in an office setting,  most cases are performed in a surgical setting under general anesthesia.  Recovery time is minimal
