As a result of weight gain and loss during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the breasts lose their youthful firmness and, often, volume, as well, causing them to sag and hang lower on the chest. A breast lift (mastopexy) procedure will restore firmness and a more shapely contour to the breasts by lifting them to a more attractive position. This procedure is often performed in conjunction with breast augmentation \ to add fullness to the breasts, as well. A breast lift is a two to three hour procedure that can be performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Patients usually can return to work in four to five days, and resume exercising in one month.
