Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP Therapy)

The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment has gained popularity ever since reality television star, Kim Kardashian, shared a photo of herself immediately after the treatment.

Commonly known as the Vampire Facelift®, the PRP treatment was developed by Dr. Miguel Runels as a way to use a patient’s own blood platelets for facial rejuvenation. The treatment enhances the shape of the face and restores additional volume.

The PRP treatment uses your own body’s healing ability to stimulate skin recovery and smoothing. It is a safe and effective non-surgical procedure that can be done in the office. The treatment can take up to 90 minutes to complete. Patients may notice mild bruising or swelling for a day or two following the procedure.

How does it work?

A small vial of blood is taken from your arm. The blood is then placed in a vial and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. This process concentrates the platelet count to about 4X normal. This is the platelet rich plasma that is then injected into the skin or can be applied topically on the area.

PRP Facial Rejuvenation Options

PRP with Fillers

Cosmetic fillers that can be used in conjunction with the PRP treatment include Radiesse, Perlane, Restylane, or Juvederm. This combination method will enhance the skin tone and texture and prolong the filler duration for 3 to 6 months longer.

PRP Therapy

If a patient does not want or need fillers, the PRP injection therapy alone can deliver the best results. The areas that work with the PRP treatment are full face, neck, crow’s feet, under the eyes, acne scars, and décolletage.

PRP Facial

The PRP Facial consists of PRP applied to the skin that has been prepared by a microneedle. The microneedle makes tiny incisions in the skin through which the PRP serum can enter and initiate the process of collagen building along with tissue enhancement.

The PRP Therapy is performed by Dr. Newall’s Nurse Injector, Bianca Moreno RN. To schedule an appointment with Bianca Moreno, call 713.354.5175.
