A solution called tumesced is injected into the areas targeted for liposuction, causing the fat to become  easier to suction out with a thin hollow tube called a cannula.  Dr. Newall prefers the tumescent method of liposuction to ultrasonic because of three key benefits of the tumesced solution:  it  helps to minimize bleeding, contains pain medication to relieve discomfort on the first day of your recovery, and it swells the tissues where it is injected, allowing Dr. Newall to perform more precise liposculpting.
