Breast Augmentation in Houston, TX
Breast augmentation or enlargement, sometimes referred to as a “boob job,” creates fuller breasts through the use of saline or silicone-filled implants. Women choose to have this procedure for a number of reasons. Pregnancy, breast-feeding, and weight fluctuation have a significant impact on the volume, firmness, and symmetry of the breast, causing a woman to feel self-conscious and dissatisfied with their appearance. Others feel that their breasts are under-developed and wish to have fuller breasts, proportional to the body. Dr. German Newall, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has helped countless women in Houston and the surrounding areas of Post Oak, Sugar Land and Katy feel confident again.
What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that aims to increase the size, shape, or fullness of the breast through the use of an implant device. This procedure is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures and can help improve your self-esteem. The ultimate goal of breast augmentation is to enhance a patient’s natural proportions and create a more symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing breast profile.

What Can I Expect from a Breast Augmentation?
In a breast augmentation procedure, an incision is most commonly made in the crease below the breast. The incision may be slightly longer if silicone implants are used because they are prefilled, whereas saline implants are filled after placement. Implants are inserted either above the muscle, or more commonly, below it (sub-pectoral). Dr. Newall prefers the sub-pectoral placement for most cases because it looks and feels more natural, and breast infections and capsular contractures are less likely to develop. In addition, the muscle helps to hold the implant in place, lowering the need for a breast lift in the future. This is a significant advantage to placement over the muscle, where the implants are more subject to the effects of gravity.
Am I a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
If you are unhappy with the shape, size, or positioning of your breasts, then you are very likely a candidate for a breast augmentation. This is a very personal decision and it is important to share your aesthetic goals with Dr. Newall. During your consultation with Dr. Newall, he will discuss your preferences regarding size and breast implant type, and you will have the opportunity to try on different sizes of implants with a special bra in order to help you determine the size you want. By sitting down and talking with you during your private consultation, he is able to get an idea of what you are looking for.
How Long is the Recovery for Breast Augmentation Surgery?
You will most likely be able to return to work five to six days after your breast augmentation procedure. Suture removal takes place seven to 10 days after the surgery. Exercise and other activities may be resumed approximately one month after surgery. These are average estimates as all patients heal differently.
Where will the procedure be performed?
Breast Augmentation Surgery is performed at our award-winning ACPS, The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery (ACPS), which is the largest private plastic surgery center in Texas. The ACPS exceeds accepted standards for private surgical facilities and is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The ACPS offers four surgical suites, pre-operative consultation suites, and seven comfortable post-operative recovery suites, all staffed with medical professionals handpicked by our surgeons.
