What is a Fat Grafting?
Fat grafting or fat transfer is the removal of fat cells from one part of the body and replace them in a more desirable area. Fat grafting has increased in popularity and is most commonly used to fill areas of the body such as breasts, hands, buttocks, and face. Fat grafting to the face is done most commonly to fill the following areas:
Fill hollowing under-eyes
Lift and contour cheeks
Smooth lines around mouth and chin
Smooth nasolabial folds
Enhance and plump lips
What Happens During a Fat Grafting?
Fat grafting can be understood in two major parts, first removing fat from a donor site and then replacing that fat into the area to be treated. The donor site is mainly areas of the body such as the abdomen, thighs, or back. The fat is harvested from one or more of these areas using a small syringe or blunt cannula. The donor fat is purified in a centrifuge, placed into small syringes, and re-injected into the desired area of the face. Dr. Newall is skillful in this procedure and works to achieve natural and beautiful results that do not appear “over-stuffed” or “over-done.”
Am I a Good Candidate for Fat Grafting?
A good candidate for fat grafting is a patient who is between the ages of 30 and 65 and in good general health. In order to accomplish fat transfer, the patient must also have an adequate amount of fat to be used as the donor site. For any aesthetic procedure, a good attitude and realistic expectations are important, too.
Where Will the Procedure Be Performed?
