Rhinoplasty in Houston, TX
Nose surgery (rhinoplasty) improves the appearance of the nose and brings it into balance with other facial features for a more attractive overall appearance. Individuals may choose to have rhinoplasty to reduce the size or width of their nose, to smooth a bump on the bridge, or to correct asymmetry. A rhinoplasty can also improve your breathing. Dr. German Newall, a board-certified plastic surgeon, offers rhinoplasty surgery to patients in Houston and the surrounding areas of Post Oak, Sugar Land, and Katy.
What is Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)?
Rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, is one of the most popular facial surgery procedures performed in the United States. A rhinoplasty can be done for several reasons: to correct breathing problems, reshape the nose due to disfigurement from trauma or birth defects, or to simply bring better balance to the face. A nose job is popular with both teens and adults. Often, rhinoplasty surgery can be valuable for young adults in school who feel self-conscious or even bullied due to their appearance. Teens should be at least 15 years old before undergoing this procedure, which will give them time to develop both physically and emotionally; however, every person is different and should discuss their goals with Dr. Newall prior to having this surgery performed.
How is Rhinoplasty Performed?
In this procedure, Dr. Newall reshapes the nose by manipulating the bone, cartilage, and soft tissues that compose its structure. He most often uses a closed incision technique, where the incision is placed inside the nose to leave a concealed scar. In the less commonly performed open incision technique, an incision is made in the strip of skin between the nostrils. Once the reshaping is complete, Dr. Newall will place a splint on the nose and pack the nostrils with gauze to provide support during the initial days of healing. Nose surgery is performed in about one to two hours on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
Can a Rhinoplasty Correct a Deviated Septum and Breathing Difficulties?
A large or crooked septum, which is the partition inside the nose that separates the two sides, can obstruct air passages, making it difficult to breathe. Dr. Newall may be able to correct this issue by performing a septoplasty procedure in conjunction with a rhinoplasty.
Where will the procedure be performed?
Rhinoplasty surgery is performed at our award-winning center, The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery (ACPS), which is the largest private plastic surgery center in Texas. The ACPS exceeds accepted standards for private surgical facilities and is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The ACPS offers four surgical suites, pre-operative consultation suites, and seven comfortable post-operative recovery suites, all staffed with medical professionals handpicked by our surgeons.
