PRP Therapy in Houston, TX

PRP therapy has gained popularity ever since reality television star, Kim Kardashian, shared a photo of herself immediately after the treatment. Board-certified plastic surgeon and founding member of The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery, Dr. German Newall, leads a team of nurse injectors and aestheticians who offer PRP therapy for men and women in Houston, Post Oak, Sugar Land, Katy, and the surrounding areas of Texas.

What is PRP Therapy?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a treatment that uses a patient’s own blood platelets for facial rejuvenation. The treatment enhances the shape of the face and restores additional volume.

PRP therapy uses your own body’s healing ability to stimulate skin recovery and smoothing. It is a safe and effective non-surgical procedure that can be done in the office. The treatment can take up to 90 minutes to complete. Patients may notice mild bruising or swelling for a day or two following the procedure.

Benefits of PRP Therapy

What Can I Expect from Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy?

A small vial of blood is taken from your arm. The blood is then placed in a vial and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. This process concentrates the platelet count to about four times the normal amount. This is the platelet-rich plasma that is then injected into the skin or can be applied topically on the area.

Dermal fillers that can be used in conjunction with the PRP treatment include Radiesse®, Restylane®, or Juvéderm®. This combination method will enhance the skin tone and texture and prolong the filler duration for three to six months longer.

If a patient does not want or need fillers, the PRP injection therapy alone can deliver the best results. The areas that work with the PRP treatment are full face, neck, crow’s feet, under the eyes, acne scars, and décolletage.

The PRP facial consists of platelet-rich plasma applied to the skin that has been prepared by a microneedle. The microneedle makes tiny incisions in the skin through which the PRP serum can enter and initiate the process of collagen building along with tissue enhancement.

Am I a Good Candidate for PRP Therapy?

Because PRP therapy uses components of your own blood, it is considered a safe treatment for most patients. Dr. Newall will verify if PRP therapy is your best option during your personal consultation.
