NeoGraft FUE Hair Transplant in Houston, TX
Around 50 million men and 30 million women suffer from baldness or thinning hair. With the rise of social media and the status of the current job market, individuals are taking an interest in being educated about hair loss treatments. A full head of hair can represent attractiveness and desirability. Hair restoration technology can restore that confidence back into your life. Dr. German Newall is a board-certified plastic surgeon who works with men and women in Houston, Post Oak, Sugar Land, Katy, and all surrounding areas who suffer from thinning hair or hair loss.
What is Male Pattern Baldness?
Hair grows about an inch every couple of months. Each hair follicle grows for two to six years, then falls out and is replaced by a new hair which begins growing in its place. Male baldness results from the shrinking of hair follicles over time, leading to shorter and finer hair. Male pattern baldness is the most common type of hair loss experienced by men. The main cause of male pattern baldness is genetics or having a family history of baldness. The NeoGraft® system is a minimally invasive hair transplant method which will produce natural and long-lasting results to help counter the effects of this predisposition.
Hair Loss in Women
Though it is true that hair loss is more of a concern for men than women, female hair loss is not as uncommon as you may think. Female hair loss can occur due to several reasons such as temporary shedding of the hair, styling treatments, medications, skin diseases, iron/vitamin deficiency, thyroid irregularities, etc. Hair loss in women can be especially distressing and negatively affect self-esteem; however, the NeoGraft® system can help to improve and better manage hair loss in women.
What is NeoGraft®?
The NeoGraft® Automated Hair Transplantation System is a new hair restoration device which simplifies individual hair follicles during a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) process. The FUE technique removes individual hair follicles from the scalp in their normal groupings of about one to four hairs and those are then placed in the areas of the scalp where balding has occurred. In addition, the NeoGraft® system can perform non-scalp procedures such as eyebrow transplant for individuals with thinning or fading eyebrows.
Key features of the NeoGraft® system include:
- Superior results
- Advanced technology
- Gentle
- Quick recovery time
- Effective
- Affordable
How Does NeoGraft® Work?
The FDA-cleared, minimally invasive system programs the removal, collection, and placement of individual hair follicles, eliminating the need for doctors to remove a large strip from the back of the scalp (a procedure known as Follicular Unit Transplant or STRIP FUT). The removal of each hair follicle is known as “Follicular Unit Extraction” or FUE, a procedure that has been on the market for several years but has been perfected to make it affordable and less time consuming for patients. In addition, NeoGraft® can be performed on both men and women. The ideal candidate will have adequate hair counts in the donor site and realistic expectations of what the results will be.
Step One: Donor Hair Removal
The NeoGraft® transplantation process begins with hair being removed from the donor area in the back of the head, an area where your hair is genetically resistant to testosterone.
Step Two: Dissection of the Follicular Units
Each graft is taken out with the same speed, diameter, and length, resulting in a dramatically increased extraction rate.
Step Three: Creation of the Recipient Sites
The hair transplant surgeon or technician creates recipient sites in the proper angle, direction, and orientation.
Step Four: Placement of the Hair Graft
The hair follicle units are carefully separated by size. The grafts are inserted into the balding and thinning areas of your scalp.
NeoGraft® Results
Once the hair follicle has been implanted into the balding area, the grafted hair will stay in place for about two to three weeks before shedding. After shedding, the process of new growth will begin in three to four months. After that time period, the hair will grow normally with natural looking results.
Hair loss will not stop after the procedure. Some individuals may need continuous treatment with preventative hair loss drugs and/or multiple hair restoration sessions, particularly if your balding patterns continue with age. An estimate of balding patterns and the number of procedures will be discussed in consultation.
Where will the procedure be performed?
NeoGraft® is performed at our award-winning ACPS, The Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery (ACPS), which is the largest private plastic surgery center in Texas. The ACPS exceeds accepted standards for private surgical facilities and is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The ACPS offers four surgical suites, pre-operative consultation suites, and seven comfortable post-operative recovery suites, all staffed with medical professionals handpicked by our surgeons.
