Body Liposculpture with Tummy Tuck as an Alternative to Full Body Lift

Body Liposculpture with Tummy Tuck as an Alternative to Full Body Lift

Patients that have recently experienced significant weight loss often have excess skin folds around the torso. Dr. Newall sees nearly 100 patients a year that are interested in a body lift procedure, but often he recommends that a tummy tuck and body contouring with liposuction would produce the best result with a more manageable recovery period for the patient.

A full body lift is the procedure of removing excess skin and fat from around the abdomen.  This procedure requires a circumfrential incision – all the way around the body – and the removal of a “belt” of skin.  Then the upper portion of skin is pulled down and sutured together at a low place on the hips to hide the scar as best as possible beneath the undergarments.

A body lift may be the best procedure choice for some plastic surgery patients, but Dr. Newall has found that a combination of Liposculpture and a Tummy Tuck procedure is a better, safer alternative.

Liposculpture is liposuction and fat grafting of specific areas to create a desired look with natural body contours.  A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is the procedure of tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall and the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle to lower abdomen.  Unlike the body lift, the tummy tuck incision just extends across the front of the body from one hip to the other.  For the right candidate, this combination of procedures can achieve a better final appearance with less scarring and a shorter recovery time.

Dr. Newall has spent years perfecting this technique and is a recognized authority in the plastic surgery community.  Recently Dr. Newall has presented this hot topic at national and international plastic surgery meetings.

“This innovative technique achieves great retraction of skin without such invasive techniques as circumferential body lifts therefore cutting recovery time and reducing scarring as well as making it more accessible to the general population,” Dr. Newall says.

Not everybody is a candidate, but certainly many people will benefit from it.  To learn more or schedule a consultation, call 713-799-9999.
